Todd Rothman is a Ridgewood resident and owner/director of Deerkill Day Camp, a summer camp for school-aged kids in nearby Suffern, New York. Todd talks about his surprising journey from Wall Street to DC to San Francisco to taking over a summer camp started by his wife’s grandparents. The decision and process to open the camp in Summer 2020 during the COVID pandemic was one of the hardest times of his life. We also talk about what it’s like owning a business with your wife, today’s “lawnmower parents”, and how he reinvigorated the business after taking it over in 2007. And despite Todd thinking he would never use anything from his entrepreneurial finance MBA class, it turns out he uses every single thing.
